I was nervous to say the least to have a new community host Fun Run, as I always know Regina will be a success I was a little uncertain how Prince Albert would handle us. Both cities blew me away!! I am so proud of this province and the board for working so hard to provide our families with such a great day! We had the sun all day, perfect temperature and a huge amount of money raised and fun was had by all!! Both cities put on a carnival day with games, cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones.

First off thank thank thank you to Miranda and Chelsey for putting in the hours and hours of work, making games, phone calls, and emails getting everything organized!! These ladies did absolutely rocked it!!
To Tj’s Pizza, Schmitty’s Smoked Meats and Forbes Bros Ltd, for putting on the yummiest of lunches!! You kept us happy and full! To St. Jerome school in Regina and PACI School in Prince Albert for letting us use their facilities. Also to Tim Horton’s, 21Treats, Boucher Ventures Inc, PA City Police, Ramada Hotels, Sasktel Tel Care, and of course all the volunteers who helped the day of with set up, running the games, or the candy machines, and for kicking around and helping clean up! Always much appreciation and shows how well our little community works together!! Something to be very proud of!
With that being said our Team Pledge earners winner, who raised $1680 is Ketchup If You Can!!! They are a new family that came out to join in the fun in Prince Albert! I love making these new connections!
Our Grand Total for the province for Fun Run 2019 is over $10,500!! Way to go!!!

Our Annual Fun Run is only 1 month away! Do you have your team ready or are you participating as an individual!? Well either way join us in our new location Prince Albert or back in Regina on June 1, 2019. Registration will start at 10 AM and the walk will begin at 11 AM. After the walk we will enjoy a BBQ and fun activities!!
This year it is going to be a blast, we are super excited to be offering this in Prince Albert and we hope to have a great turn out and lets reach our goal of $20,000. All of the money always stays in Saskatchewan to provide support for the individuals we love with Down syndrome live their best lives.

We’re sorry that you have such a narrow view of the value of a human being, that you feel like
people different than you, are an inconvenience.
We’re sorry that you may not have had the opportunity to get to know someone with different
abilities and count them as a friend, family member, or treasured coworker.
We’re sorry that you feel like a single solitary group home for people with physical or
intellectual disabilities will ruin your property value – because of course money is more
important than giving people dignity by assisting them to live with even a small amount of
independence from their families.
We’re sorry that your fears and ignorance towards people with disabilities is causing you to
believe these things in the first place. The evidence shows no impact on property values or
community safety. Instead, you’d have the opportunity to learn about the challenges differently
abled people face, and how passionate they are about contributing to their communities and
We ALL want to live our lives in peace, and build meaningful relationships with fellow
neighbours, coworkers, teachers, and families. We ALL have the right to live in any
neighbourhood we choose. We encourage your Mayor and entire City Council to spend some
time with people of diverse background in your community; and seek out organizations like
Creative Options Regina for insight into the communities in which they are a part of. You will
have an opportunity to broaden your perspective and see that everyone is deserving of dignity
and inclusion – regardless of a diagnosis or difference in ability.

SDSS works towards full and total inclusion. We educate, advocate and practically support parents, students and professionals. It is the position of SDSS that Saskatchewan has the resources, teachers, aids and service providers necessary to meet the needs of all individuals, students and families and help transition Saskatchewan to a fully inclusive province. SDSS maintains that the professionals and paraprofessionals of Saskatchewan are fully equipped with the necessary tools and abilities and that they simply require further support and education to best put these skills to use. SDSS will always believe in FULL inclusion and that inclusive communities are the best possible avenues for all people, not just individuals with Down syndrome.
February 11 our online auction will begin on Facebook. Follow the link below, after the instructions:
– Auction items will be in the Winter 2019 album. Items will also appear on the group wall if there has been recent activity.
– If you see an item you would like to bid on, simply write your bid in the comments BENEATH THE PHOTO (not the album). Please bid in $1 increments, but there’s nothing saying you can’t go up by more than $1 at a time!
START DATE: Feb 11th at 12 noon. Items will be posted prior to start date so you can start browsing but no bids before the start time will be considered)
BIDS CLOSE: Feb 25th at 8pm. We are going to be very strict so make sure your bidding fingers are swift!
HOW TO WIN: Facebook’s timestamp will be used to determine the time of the bids – any bids stamped 8pm/20:00 or later will be considered late and will not count.
WINNERS: We will notify the winner by tagging them in the photo of the item they have won.

PICK UP: You will have until Feb 28th at 6:00pm to arrange pick up or delivery. If arrangements have not been made by that time, the person who bid the next highest will be the winner. If specific arrangements are made to pick up and you are a “no show” we will rebook your pick up one more time. If you are a “no show” a second time the person who bid the next highest will be the winner. Items are in Colonsay – out of town winners are responsible for paying shipping costs.
GIFT CERTS & CUSTOM ITEMS: For those items that are being custom made for the winner or are services (e.g., pedicure, photo session, etc.), payment must still be arranged by Feb 25th. We will notify the donor when payment has been received and arrangements for the actual delivery of the item or service can be determined privately between the donor and winner.
